Choosing Your Avon Perfume

The strength of each scent varies with the percentage of essential oils, and they are broken up into the following categories:

  • Perfume
    • 22% essential oils
  • Eau de Parfum
    • 15% - 22% essential oils
  • Eau de Toilette
    • 8% - 15% essential oils
  • Eau de Cologne
    • 4% essential oils

Perfumes are generally divided into five categories.

  • Woodsy
    • Earthy, refreshing, and energetic
    • Great for casual, every day wear
  • Fruity
    • Fruity, spicy, and tropical
    • Great for warm weather
  • Floral
    • Feminine and romantic
    • The classic evening wear
  • Oceanic
    • Uses synthetic elements to evoke the smells of the beach
    • Modern
  • Orientals
    • Spicy and sexy
    • Notes of musk, vanilla, or heavy flowers

Each Avon fragrance has three "notes" that sing to you.  This is how fragrance connoisseurs categorize each scent as it is worn over time.

  • Top Note
    • The smell right after application and lasts for just a moment
  • Middle Note
    • The body of the perfume, acquired five to thirty minutes after application
  • Base Note
    • How the scent smells after mixing with your body chemistry and is produced two hours after application

Like wine, perfume needs some time to breathe and open up.  To make the most of your signature scent, use just enough to know that it is there.  Only you and those who come into your space (within about a foot of you) should smell the fragrance.  Apply the fragrance to your pulse points and think about a very small spritz on your hair (or try lightly spraying your hairbrush).
